Falcons Flight isn’t just the fastest new coaster of the 2020s — it took the world speed record outright when it opened in 2025, using its cliff-diving terrain layout to reach 155.3 mph. Top Thrill 2, Cedar Point’s 2024 rework of its famous dragster, added a swing-launch system that sends trains over the 420-foot top hat at 120 mph.
Below the two headliners, the decade’s speed story is really a giga and hyper story: Orion (91 mph) and Candymonium (76 mph) both opened in 2020, and Thorpe Park’s Hyperia (81 mph) became the UK’s fastest coaster in 2024.
