Iron Menace is a Bolliger & Mabillard Dive Coaster at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown, Pennsylvania, that opened on May 10, 2024. Built on the site of the former Stinger coaster, it was marketed as the first dive coaster in the northeastern United States and became one of the largest capital investments in the park’s history.

The ride is themed around a fictional steel mill that shut down in the early 1900s after its owner mysteriously vanished, tying into Dorney Park’s Pennsylvania steel-country roots. Riders climb a 160-foot lift hill before pausing at the crest for a suspended moment overlooking the park, then plunge down a near-vertical 95-degree drop into a course of inversions and high-speed turns.

The Ride Experience

After the lift hill, Iron Menace holds riders briefly at the top before releasing them into a 152-foot, 95-degree drop that exceeds vertical. From there the layout moves through an Immelmann loop, a zero-gravity roll, an inclined loop, and a corkscrew, packing four inversions into roughly 90 seconds. Trains seat riders seven across in a single row, a signature dive-coaster arrangement that gives every seat an unobstructed view of the drop.

Theming and Location

Iron Menace occupies the footprint of Stinger, a Vekoma boomerang coaster removed in 2018, and its steel-mill backstory nods to the Lehigh Valley’s industrial history. The two 21-passenger trains and steel structure were fabricated in part by Clermont Steel Fabricators, and the ride carries a minimum height requirement of 48 inches.
