Toverland is a themed amusement park in Sevenum, in the Dutch province of Limburg, operated by the Gelissen Group. It opened on May 19, 2001, as an indoor family entertainment venue before expanding over the following two decades into a full-scale park spread across six themed lands, including two indoor areas built around the park’s original fairy-tale storytelling concept.
The park has grown steadily through major expansions, most notably the 2018 addition of Avalon and Port Laguna, a €35 million project that added seven hectares and introduced the Fēnix wing coaster. Today Toverland spans about 24 hectares and welcomes more than a million visitors annually, and it was named winner of the European Star Award for Best Theme Park in 2018.

The Ride Experience
Toverland’s headline attraction is Fēnix, a Bolliger & Mabillard wing coaster that opened on July 7, 2018, as the first of its kind in the Netherlands. It stands 40 meters tall, runs 813 meters of track, reaches speeds of 95 km/h, and includes three inversions, all set within the Avalon land themed around the wizard Merlin.
The park’s other marquee ride is Troy, a wooden coaster built by Great Coasters International that opened in 2007. It reaches about 31.9 meters in height with a 30.7-meter drop, covers over 1,077 meters of track, and hits speeds near 87 km/h, making it one of the most respected wooden coasters in continental Europe.
Themed Lands and Growth
Toverland is organized into six themed zones, including the original indoor area Land van Toos, home to family rides like the Toos-Express junior coaster, alongside areas such as Wunder Wald, Ithaka, Magische Vallei, Port Laguna, and Avalon.
Each expansion has added distinct ride types, from the motorbike-style Booster Bike and the spinning coaster Dwervelwind to water attractions in Port Laguna, reflecting the park’s steady evolution from a small indoor venue into one of the Netherlands’ major theme park destinations.
