Truist Park opened on April 14, 2017 as the new home of Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves, replacing Turner Field in downtown Atlanta. The stadium sits in Cumberland, an unincorporated community in Cobb County, Georgia, roughly 10 miles northwest of the city center. Originally known as SunTrust Park, it was renamed Truist Park in 2020 after the merger of SunTrust Bank and BB&T created Truist Financial.
Designed by architecture firm Populous and built through a public-private partnership at a cost of $622 million, the 41,108-seat ballpark anchors The Battery Atlanta, a sprawling mixed-use district of restaurants, shops, bars, and residences. The park’s defining moment came in October 2021, when it hosted Games 3, 4, and 5 of the World Series as the Braves claimed their first championship since 1995.

Inside the Ballpark
Truist Park offers an intimate feel despite its major-league scale, with sightlines engineered to keep fans close to the action throughout the lower and upper bowls. The field dimensions run 335 feet down the left-field line, 400 feet to center, and 325 feet to right, giving the park a classic asymmetric character. A record crowd of 43,619 packed the stadium on August 17, 2019, for a matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers, underscoring the fanbase’s enthusiasm for the new venue.
Beyond baseball, Truist Park has welcomed major concerts — Lady Gaga, Metallica, and Billy Joel among them — and hosted the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, cementing its status as one of the premier event venues in the Southeast.
The Battery Atlanta
Unlike many standalone ballparks, Truist Park was conceived from the outset as the centerpiece of The Battery Atlanta, a vibrant mixed-use development wrapping around the stadium’s exterior. The district features dozens of dining and entertainment options, a Omni Hotel, residential apartments, and office space, making it a year-round destination even on non-game days.
The Cobb County location was a deliberate choice, offering easier highway access and ample parking compared to the urban core. The $622 million project was financed partly through bonds issued by the Cobb-Marietta Coliseum and Exhibit Hall Authority, a public-private arrangement that helped accelerate construction and deliver the stadium in under two years.
