Built on the bones of the classic 1996 wooden Wildcat, Wildcat’s Revenge opened at Hersheypark on June 2, 2023, as the park’s first hybrid roller coaster. Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) transformed the original wooden support structure with their signature I-Box steel track, turning a beloved but aging woodie into a modern thrill machine and Hersheypark’s 15th coaster.
The conversion added four inversions to a ride that previously had none, highlighted by the world’s largest underflip — a sweeping element where the train ascends before twisting counterclockwise through a 270-degree roll. Standing 140 feet tall with an 82-degree first drop, a top speed of 62 mph, and 3,510 feet of track, Wildcat’s Revenge immediately captured the 2023 Golden Ticket Award for Best New Roller Coaster.

The Ride Experience
Riders board one of three 24-passenger trains before a chain lift hauls them up a 140-foot hill. The descent hits 135 feet at an 82-degree angle, launching trains to 62 mph within seconds. What follows is a relentless mix of airtime hills and four inversions: a step-up underflip (the world’s largest of its kind), a drawn-out zero-G stall, and two zero-G rolls — all delivered across 3,510 feet of I-Box steel track in 2 minutes and 36 seconds.
From Wildcat to Wildcat’s Revenge
The original Wildcat, built by Great Coasters International, anchored Hersheypark’s Midway America section from 1996 until it closed permanently in July 2022. Hersheypark then partnered with Rocky Mountain Construction to repurpose the wooden support structure with RMC’s steel I-Box track — a process informally known as an RMC conversion. The rebuilt ride retained the footprint and spirit of the original while dramatically increasing height, speed, length, and adding four inversions that the wooden version never had.
