Star Trek: Operation Enterprise is a steel launched roller coaster at Movie Park Germany in Bottrop, Germany, built by Mack Rides and themed around Star Trek: The Next Generation. The ride opened to the public on May 24, 2017, with an official grand opening ceremony on June 14, 2017, becoming the park’s centerpiece attraction within the newly built Federation Plaza area.
The coaster uses a linear synchronous motor (LSM) launch system to fire trains forward and then backward along the same section of track, sending riders through a twisted vertical top hat element and three inversions. Guests reach the ride through an elaborate, fully Star Trek-themed queue building complete with a pre-show and 3D projection effects before boarding trains styled after the franchise’s shuttlecraft.

The Ride Experience
After a themed queue and pre-show sequence, riders board trains that are launched forward out of the station by the LSM system before immediately reversing direction and launching backward through the same stretch of track. This dual-launch sequence carries the train up and through a twisted vertical element, widely cited as the tallest point on the ride, before it dives into a series of inversions including an Immelmann-style loop, a heartline roll, and a corkscrew.
The layout continues through banked turns, a tunnel section, and several smaller hills before returning to the station via the brake run. The ride’s soundtrack, composed specifically for the attraction, plays throughout the queue and course to reinforce the Star Trek theming.
Theming and Federation Plaza
The coaster anchors Federation Plaza, a themed area built specifically for the attraction that spans more than 1,000 square meters and immerses guests in a Star Trek-styled environment before they ever reach the boarding platform. The queue building itself was designed to resemble a Starfleet facility, with rooms dedicated to franchise lore and effects leading up to the launch.
Star Trek: Operation Enterprise represented a major investment for Movie Park Germany when it opened in 2017, replacing an earlier attraction on the same site and giving the park a signature launch coaster to compete with other major European theme parks.
