Pepsi Orange Streak is an indoor family roller coaster at Nickelodeon Universe inside the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. Built by German manufacturer Zierer and designed by Werner Stengel’s engineering firm, it opened on August 11, 1992, as Pepsi Ripsaw when the park was still known as Knott’s Camp Snoopy, making it one of the original attractions still running in the mall’s glass-domed amusement park.

The coaster was renamed Pepsi Orange Streak when the park rebranded to Nickelodeon Universe, and it has been refreshed more than once since, most recently in February 2025 with updated trains and a touched-up paint scheme. Its steel track, tunnel passage through the old Log Chute attraction, and trio of sweeping helices make it a signature ride for guests who want a coaster experience without ever stepping outside.

Stats at a Glance

The Ride Experience

Riders climb two separate lift hills over the course of the layout, which winds through roughly 2,680 feet of green steel track entirely inside the mall’s enclosed atrium. The ride dives through a short tunnel that once ran beneath the old Log Chute water ride and carves through three large helices that keep the two-and-a-half-minute circuit feeling busier than its modest 60-foot height suggests.

Trains run two riders across in a single row, with 15 cars per train carrying about 30 guests at a time. Because the entire course sits under the mall’s roof, Pepsi Orange Streak runs rain, snow, or Minnesota subzero cold, which has helped it remain one of the park’s most consistently operating rides for over three decades.

History and Refreshes

The coaster debuted as Pepsi Ripsaw in 1992 with mine-cart-style trains and a shared lap-bar restraint, part of the original Knott’s Camp Snoopy lineup. When the park became Nickelodeon Universe, the ride was renamed Pepsi Orange Streak and later received new trains with individual lap bars for a smoother, more secure ride.

In February 2025, Nickelodeon Universe and sponsor Pepsi unveiled another refresh of the ride, including new trains, with a public celebration event on February 15. The repeated updates reflect how the park has kept this early-1990s coaster feeling current while preserving its original Stengel-engineered layout.
