The building that houses Rockefeller was originally known as Torggata Bad, a public bathing facility in central Oslo. Long after its life as a bathhouse ended, the space was repurposed and Rockefeller opened its doors in 1986, giving Oslo a mid-sized venue built around a main hall, a large gallery, a smaller upper gallery, a rooftop bar, and several side lounges.
That layout has let Rockefeller host everything from intimate club nights to larger touring productions, with the venue’s roughly 1,300-person capacity making it one of the bigger dedicated rock and pop rooms in the Norwegian capital.

Rockefeller, along with John Dee and Sentrum Scene, forms a cluster of venues under Auditorium AS that anchors several of Oslo’s biggest annual music events, including the Inferno Festival metal gathering and the by:Larm showcase festival, as well as Musikkfest Oslo.
