MGM Music Hall at Fenway is a mid-sized concert venue located directly northeast of Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts, at 2 Lansdowne Street. Owned by Fenway Sports Group and named through a sponsorship deal with MGM Resorts International, the hall opened its doors on August 22, 2022, giving Boston a purpose-built space for touring artists that fills the gap between small clubs and arena-sized stadiums.
The venue’s opening ceremony featured Boston mayor Michelle Wu at a ribbon-cutting followed by a private set from local band Guster, while the first public ticketed concert went to Godsmack on August 27, 2022. Designed by DAIQ Architects and built by Gilbane Building Company, the hall was originally planned to open a year earlier but was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Concert Hall Built Into the Fenway Neighborhood
MGM Music Hall at Fenway sits right against the exterior wall of Fenway Park, integrating a modern concert venue into one of America’s most historic sports neighborhoods. Its central Lansdowne Street location puts it within walking distance of the ballpark, bars, and restaurants that already draw crowds to the area, and the hall was designed with sightlines and acoustics aimed specifically at live music rather than sports or general-purpose events.
The venue’s naming rights went to MGM Resorts International as part of a deal finalized in 2019, while Fenway Sports Group owns the building itself. Live Nation Entertainment initially operated the hall before Crossroads Presents took over live event operations.
From Groundbreaking to Grand Opening
Construction broke ground in November 2019, but the COVID-19 pandemic pushed the venue’s debut back roughly a year from its original schedule. When it finally opened in August 2022, the celebration included a mayor-led ribbon-cutting and a private Guster performance for Tufts University students, with Godsmack headlining the first public show days later.
Since opening, the roughly 5,000-capacity hall has hosted a mix of touring musicians and esports events, including the 2024 Call of Duty League Major and the 2025 Six Invitational, and Pollstar’s October 2025 report ranked it among the most popular club-sized venues of the year.
