Germania Insurance Amphitheater sat on the grounds of Circuit of the Americas in southeast Austin, Texas, and grew into Central Texas’ largest outdoor concert venue. Designed by Miró Rivera Architects and built for about $62 million, the steel-roofed amphitheater first opened on November 17, 2012, as the Tower Amphitheater before its full concert debut the following spring.
The venue reopened under the Austin 360 Amphitheater name in April 2013 with a headlining performance by Kenny Chesney, supported by Eli Young Band and Kacey Musgraves. It carried that name until January 2020, when a sponsorship deal brought the Germania Insurance branding that followed. Operated by Live Nation Entertainment, it has hosted major touring acts across country, rock, and pop on its sprawling reserved-seat, floor, and lawn layout.

A Venue Built Into a Racetrack
Germania Insurance Amphitheater was unusual among major concert venues for sharing its grounds with a Formula 1 racetrack. Circuit of the Americas built the amphitheater as part of its broader entertainment complex, giving it about 6,700 fixed reserved seats, a flexible floor area that could hold additional seating or standing room, and a sloped lawn behind the pavilion for general admission crowds.
The distinctive steel canopy roof, recognized with a 2015 award from the American Institute of Steel Construction, sheltered the stage and reserved seating while leaving the lawn open to the Texas sky, a layout that became a signature of the venue’s concert experience.
From Tower Amphitheater to Germania Insurance
The venue’s identity shifted twice in its first decade. It opened under the Tower Amphitheater name in late 2012, was rebranded Austin 360 Amphitheater ahead of its April 2013 concert debut, and then took on the Germania Insurance name starting January 1, 2020, following a new sponsorship agreement. Through each name change, the booking and operations stayed with Live Nation Entertainment.
