From a Single Madrid Park to a European Powerhouse

Parques Reunidos traces its roots to 1967, when it was incorporated to run a single amusement park in Madrid’s Casa de Campo. Over the following decades the company expanded steadily through acquisitions, becoming one of the most active buyers of individual leisure parks in Europe and building the continent’s largest single portfolio of water parks along with its position as the largest operator of animal parks in Europe.

The company is currently majority-owned by investment firm EQT AB, with Elliott Management also holding a stake, and is led by CEO Pascal Ferracci, who joined in 2020 after previously heading Center Parcs Europe.

A Portfolio Refocused on Europe

In 2025, Parques Reunidos sold Palace Entertainment, its U.S. subsidiary that included parks such as Kennywood and Dutch Wonderland, to Herschend Family Entertainment, completing the deal in May of that year. The move sharpened the company’s strategy around consolidating its leadership in the European leisure market.

That European portfolio now anchors the brand, spanning amusement parks, water parks, zoos and aquariums, and family entertainment centers across countries including Spain, Germany, Italy, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, and the United Kingdom, alongside operations in Australia.
