Aquaboulevard opened in April 1989 in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, inaugurated that May by then-mayor Jacques Chirac. The Water Park Experience
Inside Aquaboulevard’s glass-domed complex, visitors find 11 slides alongside two wave pools that activate on a rotating schedule, counter-current rivers, and both indoor and outdoor jacuzzis. An adjoining outdoor area adds about 4,000m² of imported sand styled as a seaside beach, complete with Mauritian-style straw huts, letting guests move between tropical pool zones and open-air sunbathing depending on the season.
The park was built to feel like a resort rather than a municipal pool, and that ambition shows in details like water cannons, geysers, and a wake-park style cable attraction added in later years. Because the main hall is climate-controlled, Aquaboulevard operates year-round regardless of Paris weather.
History and Renovation
Aquaboulevard struggled financially in its early years, requiring a capital increase in 1991 just two years after opening. The complex expanded in December 1998 with the addition of a 14-screen Pathé cinema, cementing its role as a broader entertainment destination beyond swimming.
The site has faced periodic closures for repairs, including a cinema shutdown in 2021, and in 2022 city officials announced plans for a larger redevelopment of the grounds to add residential and commercial space alongside the existing leisure facilities.
