Height requirements decide which coasters your group can ride, so it pays to measure children before you go. Thorpe Park, in Surrey, England, is known for intense thrill coasters such as Stealth, Hyperia and SAW – The Ride. It also has a gentle first-time coaster for small children.

Every Coaster by Height, Solo and Accompanied
Thrill coasters, 55 in (140 cm) minimum: Stealth, SAW – The Ride, The Swarm, Colossus and Nemesis Inferno each state a minimum of 1.4 m (about 55 in, 140 cm). Thorpe Park’s ride pages give no separate accompanied minimum for these rides, so children below 1.4 m cannot ride even with an adult. All five also list a maximum torso restriction of 51 in. That is a torso measurement, not a maximum height, and the pages we read publish no maximum height.
Hyperia, 51 in (130 cm) minimum: Hyperia’s page states a minimum height of 1.3 m (about 51 in, 130 cm). It gives no accompanied minimum and no maximum height or torso limit, so riders must meet the 130 cm minimum on their own.
Family and first-time coaster: Flying Fish has a minimum height of 0.9 m (about 35 in, 90 cm). Children between 0.9 m and 1.1 m (about 35 to 43 in, 90 to 110 cm) must be accompanied by an adult aged 16 or over. No maximum height is listed. The ride page describes it as a first-time coaster with a top speed of 19 mph.
Ride requirements also cover more than height, including upper-body strength, head and neck control, and limb rules. The Swarm, Nemesis Inferno and Colossus pages say riders need adequate upper-body strength, and several pages restrict prosthetic limbs and casts. Check the official accessibility guide before you travel.
Tips for Families Visiting Thorpe Park
Measure children at home in bare feet, and remember that most of Thorpe Park’s big coasters have no accompanied-rider option. A child under 1.4 m cannot ride Stealth, SAW – The Ride, The Swarm, Colossus or Nemesis Inferno, and a child under 1.3 m cannot ride Hyperia.
If a child is too short, Flying Fish is the coaster for the youngest riders, from 0.9 m. Children who reach 1.3 m can join Hyperia. Because the top coasters have no accompanied minimum, a group with mixed heights will usually need a rider swap or a waiting adult, so plan for that.
Check the official ride pages and accessibility guide on the day you visit, since rides can close or change. Rumba Rapids, a water ride and not a coaster, was reported permanently closed in March 2026.
