The Ranking, Most Intense First
1. SUPERMAN The Ride — Height requirement 54–76 in (137–193 cm). Lift hill 208 ft (63 m), drop 221 ft (67 m), top speed 77 mph (124 km/h), no inversions. The intense element is the huge, fast first drop (listed at a 72-degree maximum angle on Wikipedia), followed by 5,400 ft (1,646 m) of track. The park rates it thrill level 5. It feels like being dropped off a 20-story building and then flung along at highway-plus speed with airtime the whole way.
2. Wicked Cyclone — Height requirement 48 in (122 cm). Height 109 ft (33 m), top speed 55 mph (89 km/h), 3 inversions. The intense element is its element mix: the park describes “devastating 200-degree stalls and multiple zero-G rolls” and claims “more airtime than any other coaster in New England.” It is a steel-on-wood hybrid, and it feels like being thrown around and lifted off the seat again and again. Thrill level 5.
3. BATMAN The Dark Knight — Height requirement 54 in (137 cm). Height 117.8 ft (35.9 m), top speed 55 mph (89 km/h), 5 inversions. The intense element is the inversion sequence: a loop, dive loop, zero-G roll and interlocking corkscrews, ridden in a floorless B&M train per RCDB. It feels like a sustained sequence of flips with strong forces that pin you to the seat. Thrill level 5.
4. THE RIDDLER Revenge — Height requirement 52–78 in (132–198 cm). Height 109.3 ft (33.3 m), top speed 49.7 mph (80 km/h), 5 inversions. The intense element is the opening: the park describes “a half loop and a half corkscrew at the same time, directly followed by a near-vertical climb and multiple 360 degree rolls.” It is a Vekoma suspended looping coaster per RCDB, and it feels like being flipped repeatedly with your legs hanging free. 5. Scream — Height requirement 52 in (132 cm). The park describes a 20-story drop tower where “your seat is falling at 55 miles per hour” (89 km/h). The intense element is pure free-fall. It feels like a short, stomach-dropping fall with nothing to look at but the ground. Thrill level 4, but for people afraid of heights it can be the scariest ride here.
6. Flashback — Height requirement 48 in (122 cm). Height 116.5 ft (35.5 m), top speed 47 mph (76 km/h), 3 inversions. The intense element is that it runs forwards and then backwards through the same loops. It is a Vekoma Boomerang-type shuttle coaster per RCDB, and it feels like a quick, forceful double dose of loops in under two minutes. Thrill level 5.
7. GOTHAM CITY GAUNTLET Escape from Arkham Asylum — Height requirement 54–75 in (137–191 cm); the park lists a minimum with accompaniment of 46 in (117 cm). It is a Maurer-built coaster that the park says seats groups of four and reaches 28 mph (45 km/h). The park describes “a teetering high-wire act” of tight-turning track. The intense element is the sharp, sudden turning rather than height or speed. It feels like being whipped side to side with no big drop. Thrill level 5.
8. Pandemonium — Height requirement 47 in (119 cm); the park lists a minimum with accompaniment of 43 in (109 cm). Track speed 30 mph (48 km/h) on a Gerstlauer free-spinning coaster. The intense element is that the cars spin, so “no two rides are ever the same.” It feels dizzying more than fast. Thrill level 4.
9. Thunderbolt — Height requirement 48 in (122 cm). Height 70 ft (21 m), top speed 40 mph (64 km/h), no inversions. It is a wooden coaster from 1941. The intense element is its old-school, close-to-the-track speed. It feels like a classic wooden rattle-and-sway ride. Thrill level 4.
10. Quantum Accelerator — The park lists a height requirement of 52 in (132 cm), a minimum with accompaniment of 48 in (122 cm), and a maximum of 77 in (196 cm). Top speed up to 45 mph (72 km/h), two launches, and 11 airtime moments according to the park. Riders sit motorcycle-style on a dual-launch straddle coaster. It feels like short bursts of speed and floating rather than fear, and it opened to the public on April 17, 2026. It is one of the mildest rides in this ranking.
Intense vs Rough: Know the Difference
Superman The Ride is intense but not rough. Wikipedia describes it as noted for its smoothness, and its scare is the size of the drop and the sustained speed. Its restraints have changed over the years, and Wikipedia notes the current seating layout returned to 36 riders per train for the 2025 season.
Wicked Cyclone is thrilling because of its airtime and stalls, and its hybrid track is generally regarded as smooth. That reputation is my read of the ride type, not something I measured.
The rides I expect to be more uncomfortable than thrilling are the older Vekoma designs, Flashback and The Riddler Revenge. I did not find a source that measures this, so treat it as a judgement based on the ride types and general enthusiast reputation. Thunderbolt, a 1941 wooden coaster, will rattle by design, but at 40 mph (64 km/h) it is more of a nostalgic shake than a scare. Pandemonium’s dizziness is intense in a different way and depends on how you handle spinning.

Third step: Pandemonium (47 in / 119 cm minimum). Track speed is 30 mph (48 km/h), so it is slow, but the spinning can be disorienting if you are prone to dizziness.
The one to skip: Superman The Ride. A 221 ft (67 m) drop at 77 mph (124 km/h) is the biggest jump in intensity anywhere in the park. Work up to Wicked Cyclone or Batman The Dark Knight first.
A note on supervision: the park’s ride pages list a “minimum with accompaniment” height for some rides, such as 48 in (122 cm) for Quantum Accelerator, 43 in (109 cm) for Pandemonium and 46 in (117 cm) for Gotham City Gauntlet. The Quantum Accelerator page does not state the age of the accompanying rider, and I could not confirm the park’s wording on that point. Check the park’s rider-safety page before relying on it.
