Ferrari Land opened on April 7, 2017, as the third park within the PortAventura World resort in Salou, Catalonia, Spain. Built on roughly 60,000 square meters and themed around Mediterranean and Italian landmarks like Venice’s Piazza San Marco and Rome’s Colosseum, it became the second Ferrari-branded amusement park in the world after Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, developed at a cost of more than €100 million.
The park’s headline attraction is Red Force, an Intamin-built launch coaster that opened alongside the park. Standing 112 meters tall and launching riders to 180 km/h in about five seconds, Red Force has held the title of Europe’s tallest and fastest roller coaster since it opened. It also briefly ranked as the world’s tallest operating full-circuit coaster in late 2024 and early 2025, after Six Flags Great Adventure’s Kingda Ka was permanently closed in November 2024 and demolished by implosion in February 2025, and before Cedar Point’s rebuilt Top Thrill 2 returned to service in May 2025 to reclaim the record.

The Ride Experience
Red Force dominates the skyline of Ferrari Land, launching its 12-passenger train from 0 to 180 km/h in roughly five seconds before rocketing up a 112-meter top hat tower with a 90-degree twist. With zero inversions and an 880-meter track, the ride is built for pure speed and airtime rather than looping acrobatics, delivering its entire circuit in about 39 seconds. A scaled-down version, Junior Red Force, was added in 2018 for younger riders who aren’t tall enough for the full-size launch coaster.
Beyond the headline coaster, Ferrari Land packs in family attractions themed to the Italian marque, including the Maranello Grand Race flat ride, the drop-tower Thrill Towers, racing simulators, and a museum-style walkthrough tracing Enzo Ferrari’s story and the brand’s motorsport heritage.
A New Chapter for PortAventura
Ferrari Land’s opening prompted the rebranding of the entire resort from PortAventura to PortAventura World, uniting the original PortAventura Park, the Costa Caribe water park, and the new Ferrari-themed park under one banner alongside six hotels and a convention center. The park drew over 700,000 visitors in its debut year and crossed the one-million mark by 2018, cementing it as a major draw on Spain’s Costa Dorada.
