The Ride Experience
Belantis’s headline attraction is Huracan, a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter coaster that opened in June 2010. Originally built for a canceled Dubai park project, it was acquired by Belantis and now runs a 560-meter circuit reaching 32 meters tall and speeds of about 85 km/h, with five inversions including a cobra roll and a first drop steeper than vertical at 97 degrees. Alongside it sit three smaller coasters, Cobra des Amun Ra, Drachenritt, and the kids’ coaster Huracanito, plus water-based rides like the Fluch des Pharao log flume and the Fahrt des Odysseus tow-boat ride.
Beyond the rides, Belantis leans heavily into its themed storytelling, organizing attractions, restaurants, and play areas around ancient-world lands such as Egypt, the Aztec empire, and Atlantis, giving the park a more narrative feel than a typical mid-sized regional operation.
A Park in Transition
Belantis is currently mid-transformation. Following its 2025 acquisition by Compagnie des Alpes, the park is being reworked in phases into Asterix Park Germany, the first Parc Asterix outside of France, with the process expected to run through 2030-2031. Compagnie des Alpes has said the park has drawn around 300,000 visitors annually in recent years, and believes it can grow attendance toward nearly 900,000 a year under new management. The first visible change, an Asterix-and-Obelix-themed area called Idefix’ Abenteuerland aimed at younger families, was announced for a 2026 opening.
For now, Belantis continues operating under its original name and theming while the longer-term rebrand plays out, making it a park worth watching for coaster enthusiasts and Asterix fans alike.
