ScottsMiracle-Gro Field is the soccer-specific stadium that has anchored downtown Columbus, Ohio since opening in July 2021. Built for the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer, the venue sits inside the Astor Park mixed-use development next to the Arena District and replaced the club’s original 1999 stadium just a few miles away.

The facility opened as Lower.com Field before the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, headquartered in nearby Marysville, Ohio, acquired the naming rights in November 2025. Beyond hosting Crew matches, the stadium is set to welcome Columbus’s NWSL expansion team in 2028 and will stage Olympic soccer games the same year.

Stats at a Glance

  • Team(s): Columbus Crew (MLS); Columbus NWSL from 2028
  • Location: Columbus, Ohio
  • Opened: July 3, 2021
  • Capacity: about 20,371
  • Construction cost: around $314 million
  • Field surface: Natural grass
  • Notable fact: Will host Olympic soccer matches in 2028

A Soccer-First Design

Unlike the Crew’s former home, which doubled as a multi-purpose venue, this stadium was purpose-built for soccer with tight sightlines and a natural grass pitch measuring 115 by 75 yards. Designed by architecture firm HNTB, it includes 30 suites and roughly 1,900 club seats wrapped around a compact bowl meant to amplify crowd noise.

The stadium opened on July 3, 2021, with a 2-2 draw against the New England Revolution, and quickly became known for one of MLS’s most intense atmospheres, inherited from the Crew’s loyal supporter base.

A New Name, A Bigger Future

After operating as Lower.com Field for its first several seasons, the venue was renamed ScottsMiracle-Gro Field on November 25, 2025, reflecting an expanded partnership between the Crew and the Ohio-based lawn and garden company. The Crew holds a 30-year lease on the stadium for a symbolic $10 annual rent, with an option to purchase the facility in 2047.

Looking ahead, the stadium will host a new NWSL franchise starting in 2028 and is slated to stage Olympic soccer matches that same year, when it will be temporarily referred to as Columbus Stadium under IOC sponsorship rules.
