The group has since backed a major redevelopment plan for the ground, approved by Leeds City Council in January 2026, which would expand capacity to roughly 53,000 by rebuilding the West Stand (John Charles Stand) and North Stand (Don Revie Stand).
Enabling works are set to begin immediately, with full construction planned after the 2025-26 season so Leeds United can continue playing at Elland Road throughout most of the build, preserving the club’s century-old tie to the site.
