Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separately ticketed after-hours event held at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, running on select nights each August through November. First held in 1995, it has grown into one of the most popular seasonal ticketed events at any Disney park, drawing guests for trick-or-treating, costumed characters, and Halloween-themed entertainment not available during regular park hours.
The party lets guests enter Magic Kingdom hours before its normal closing time using only their party ticket, with the park closing to day-guests so attendees can experience attractions, character meet-and-greets, and trick-or-treat stations throughout a costume-friendly evening. A sister version of the event has also run at Disneyland Paris since 2008.

What Happens at the Party
The event centers on trick-or-treating, with guests given bags to collect candy from stations set up around the park. Disney Villains take over stage shows, characters appear in Halloween costumes not seen during regular hours, and the costume policy is relaxed so guests of nearly any age can dress up for the night.
The evening builds to two signature productions: Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade, which features the Headless Horseman and live-action Haunted Mansion ghosts alongside costumed Disney characters, and Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular, a fireworks and projection show at Cinderella Castle.
History and Recent Changes
The party debuted in 1995 and has run most years since, becoming a fall tradition for many Disney World visitors. It was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, replaced briefly by a scaled-down after-hours event in 2021, and returned in its full ticketed form on select nights starting August 12, 2022.
Because it is a separate-admission event with limited nightly capacity, popular dates — especially in October — regularly sell out and tend to carry the highest ticket prices of the season.
