Halloween Haunt is the annual Halloween-season event held after dark at Canada’s Wonderland in Vaughan, Ontario. Billed as Canada’s largest haunted theme park experience, it takes over the grounds on select Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights each fall, running from late September through early November.
The event traces back to a small test run inside the park’s Kingswood beverage tent in the late 1990s. It grew into a full haunted theme park concept in 2005 under the name Fearfest, launched while the park was owned by Paramount Parks. After Cedar Fair Entertainment Company acquired the park, the event was rebranded Halloween Haunt, aligning it with the haunted attractions Cedar Fair ran at its other North American parks, most notably Knott’s Scary Farm.

Mazes, Scare Zones, and Shows
Guests navigate six walk-through mazes, including Cornstalkers, Dark Ride, Demons of the Deep, Spirit Manor, The Crypt, and The Ruins, each built around a different horror theme, from a scarecrow-infested cornfield to a flooded laboratory. Outside the mazes, seven atmospheric scare zones, among them CarnEvil, Gates of Terror, Necropolis, and Wicked Hollow, fill the park’s midways with roaming monsters, fog, and themed lighting, while roller coasters and other rides stay open for night operation.
The event also features live entertainment, including the fire-themed Inferno show and the LED-drummer Head Bangers performance, plus live bands throughout the night. In recent years the event has added premium ticketed experiences, such as The Conjuring: Beyond Fear, an immersive walkthrough built around The Conjuring Universe.
A Cedar Fair Tradition, Now Under Six Flags
Halloween Haunt paused in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, returned as an outdoor-only event in 2021, and restored its full maze lineup in 2022. Following the 2024 merger of Cedar Fair and Six Flags into Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, the event continued under new corporate ownership while keeping its established format of mazes, scare zones, and live shows. Canada’s Wonderland also runs a separate, family-friendly daytime counterpart called Camp Spooky on the same fall weekends.
