Snoopy’s Racing Railway is a family launch coaster at Carowinds, the Charlotte-area park that straddles the North Carolina–South Carolina line. Built by German manufacturer ART Engineering, the ride opened on May 24, 2025, inside the park’s Camp Snoopy section, replacing the smaller Snoopy’s Junction miniature railway that had occupied the spot before it.
The coaster gives riders a pair of enclosed, tire-propelled launches and sends its single train around the circuit twice, winding through themed scenery built around Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang. At just under 30 feet tall with a 36-inch height requirement, it’s designed as an entry-level thrill for young riders and families looking to graduate from Camp Snoopy’s kiddie rides without a full-size launch coaster’s intensity.

The Ride Experience
Riders board a single 7-car train holding 14 guests, seated two across in a row, for a layout that uses two separate tire-propelled launch sections rather than a single big drop. The train completes two full laps of the roughly 804-foot track before returning to the station, weaving through Camp Snoopy’s themed set pieces along the way.
Because it has no inversions and a modest top speed of about 31 mph, Snoopy’s Racing Railway is built to be approachable rather than extreme. It fits the same family-launch-coaster model ART Engineering debuted at Canada’s Wonderland in 2023, though it runs on the same compact footprint rather than towering over the midway.
Camp Snoopy’s New Centerpiece
Carowinds announced the ride on August 7, 2024 as part of a broader refresh of Camp Snoopy, the park’s family and kids’ area. Its arrival gave the zone a modern launch coaster to go alongside longtime Camp Snoopy staples like Woodstock Express, broadening the lineup of rides families can tackle together before kids are tall enough for the park’s bigger coasters.
