A Launch Built Like a Formula 1 Start
Unlike its Ferrari-branded sibling Formula Rossa in Abu Dhabi, which uses a hydraulic catapult, Red Force accelerates with linear synchronous motors (LSMs) — the same magnetic launch technology used on many modern coasters, scaled up to an extreme. The train leaves the station, staging-lights style, and is hurled from 0 to 112 mph (180 km/h) in about five seconds. There is no lift hill, no slow build-up: the entire ride is one violent burst of acceleration followed by a vertical climb.
Once the launch ends, the track bends straight up at 90 degrees, crests a top hat element 112 meters above the park, and dives back down the other side with a twist. Riders get a heartbeat of weightlessness at the apex — along with a view that stretches across the Costa Daurada to the Mediterranean — before the track spirals down to the magnetic brake run. The whole circuit is 880 meters long and lasts roughly 39 seconds.
