Riders board Incredicoaster’s train and are blasted from a standstill to 55 mph in roughly four seconds via linear induction motor (LIM) launch technology, immediately climbing a hill before diving into a series of hills, banked turns, and a single vertical loop. The full circuit takes about two minutes and 40 seconds.
The Incredibles theming layers a chase narrative onto the ride’s structure, with the Parr family pursuing the mischievous Jack-Jack across the Pixar Pier skyline, punctuated by an original score and audio-animatronic-style effects along the course.
From California Screamin’ to Incredicoaster
When it debuted in 2001, the ride was built to evoke a classic wooden boardwalk coaster despite being an all-steel Intamin launch coaster, complete with a loop originally shaped like Mickey Mouse’s head as seen from above. That silhouette was later swapped for a Paradise Pier sunburst logo during a 2008-2009 refurbishment.
The 2018 transformation into Incredicoaster, part of the broader Pixar Pier overhaul, replaced the loop’s centerpiece with a 40-ton red disc bearing the Incredibles logo and added new track-side scenery, sound, and lighting to match the superhero theme.
