The theatre reopened in May 2017 with its original sand-coloured facade and Art Deco details brought back to life, while its heritage listing protects the building’s exterior and character for future generations.
Today the Palais remains a working venue on Melbourne’s gig circuit, drawing touring musicians and comedians to its ornate auditorium just steps from St Kilda Beach, keeping the foreshore’s entertainment legacy alive nearly a century after it began.
