The Magic have only ever played in Orlando, and in just two arenas. The expansion team opened in 1989 at the new Orlando Arena, later known as Amway Arena, and moved in 2010 to the downtown arena now called Kia Center.
Here are both homes in order, with the years the Magic played there, what made each one matter and what stands on the site today. Each arena with a ThrillZing guide links to it.

Magic Arena FAQ
Where did the Magic play before Kia Center?
At the Orlando Arena, from the team’s first season in 1989 through 2009–10. The building was renamed TD Waterhouse Centre in 1999 and Amway Arena in 2006. Both of the Magic’s trips to the NBA Finals, in 1995 and 2009, came during their years there.
How many arenas have the Magic had?
Two: Amway Arena (1989–2010) and Kia Center (2010–present). The current arena was called the Amway Center until December 2023, so the two names are easy to mix up.
Why did the Magic build a new arena?
The Magic’s owners had pressed the city for a newer arena for nearly ten years, since the 1989 building predated the new wave of technologically advanced arenas and had quickly become one of the oldest in the league. Orlando, Orange County and the team announced a deal in September 2006 for a new downtown arena, which the city owns. It opened on October 1, 2010, at a cost of about $480 million.
Is Amway Arena still standing?
No. It closed in 2010, and most of the building was imploded on March 25, 2012. Plans for the old Centroplex land call for Creative Village, a mix of offices, housing and education space.
Where do the Magic play now?
At Kia Center in downtown Orlando, which seats 18,846 for NBA games. It hosted the 2012 NBA All-Star Game and is shared with the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL.
