Senators Arena FAQ

Where did the Senators play before Canadian Tire Centre?

At the Ottawa Civic Centre on Bank Street, from their first game on October 8, 1992, until December 31, 1995. The arena was home to the junior Ottawa 67’s and was fitted with press and luxury boxes for the Senators.

How many arenas have the Senators had?

Why did the Senators build an arena in Kanata?

The arena was part of the bid that won the franchise. Owner Terrace Corporation found a site on farmland just west of Ottawa in Kanata in 1989, and the arena opened there as the Palladium on January 15, 1996.

Is the Ottawa Civic Centre still standing?

Yes. Renamed TD Place Arena after a major renovation, it is still home to the Ottawa 67’s of the OHL.

Where do the Senators play now?

At Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata, in Ottawa’s west end. It has carried that name since 2013, after the Palladium, Corel Centre and Scotiabank Place, and seats 17,010 for hockey.
