Waterworld California was a seasonal outdoor water park in Concord, California, operating under that name from around 2007 to 2018. Spread across about 26 acres off Interstate 680, the park billed itself as the Bay Area’s largest water park and backed the claim with more than 30 slides and attractions serving riders of every thrill level.
The park first opened in 1995 as Waterworld USA Concord and cycled through several owners and names before settling on the Waterworld California brand for roughly a decade. In 2018, Six Flags Entertainment assumed operations and renamed it Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Concord, but for a generation of Bay Area families the park is remembered under the Waterworld California name.

Signature Rides
Breaker Beach, a roughly half-million-gallon wave pool, served as the park’s social centerpiece. Cliffhanger paired side-by-side freefall body slides dropping seven stories in about three seconds, while Tornado offered a six-story funnel ride with a 75-foot drop on tubes. Break Point Plunge launched riders down a near-vertical chute into a 270-foot enclosed flume with a 360-degree turn. The park also claimed Northern California’s longest lazy river and a family play structure with multiple slides for younger guests.
Ownership and Renaming
After Premier Parks opened the site in 1995 and later merged with Six Flags in 1998, the property changed hands several times. PARC Management acquired it around 2007 — bundled with several other parks in a deal estimated near $312 million — with CNL Lifestyle Properties holding title and Palace Entertainment later running day-to-day operations. EPR Properties bought the portfolio in late 2016, and Six Flags announced renewed operational control in April 2017. The Waterworld California name was retired in 2018 when Six Flags rebranded the park as Hurricane Harbor Concord.
