Zadra is a steel hybrid roller coaster at Energylandia in Zator, Poland, built by Rocky Mountain Construction and opened on August 22, 2019. Standing 206 feet tall and launching riders to 75 mph through three inversions along 4,318 feet of track, it quickly established itself as one of the most intense rides in Europe.

What sets Zadra apart historically is that it was the first coaster ever constructed from the ground up using RMC’s patented I-Box Track system — a steel rail on wooden supports — rather than converting an existing wooden coaster. Its name means ‘splinter’ in Polish, a fitting nod to its hybrid wood-and-steel construction.

The Ride Experience

Zadra’s layout begins with a steep first drop before unleashing a relentless sequence of airtime hills, overbanked turns, and three high-speed inversions. The ride’s I-Box Track delivers a noticeably smooth experience compared to traditional wooden coasters, allowing the structure’s flexibility to translate into lateral and vertical forces rather than jolts.

Two trains, each seating 24 riders, cycle through the course at up to 1,050 riders per hour. At one minute and fifty seconds of ride time, Zadra packs an exceptionally dense set of elements into its 4,318-foot layout, rarely giving riders a moment to breathe between features.

Records and Recognition

At 206 feet, Zadra ties with Iron Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa as the tallest RMC steel roller coaster in the world. Its ground-up construction — rather than a conversion of an existing wooden coaster — marked a significant milestone for Rocky Mountain Construction and proved the I-Box system viable as a standalone build.

Enthusiast recognition followed quickly. Zadra earned a tied 6th-place ranking among the world’s top steel coasters in the 2025 Golden Ticket Awards, cementing its status as a world-class attraction and drawing international visitors to Energylandia.
