Untamed is a hybrid roller coaster at Walibi Holland in Biddinghuizen, Netherlands, built by Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC). Opening on July 1, 2019, it converted the former Robin Hood wooden coaster into one of Europe’s most acclaimed rides by replacing the aging wooden track with RMC’s signature steel I-Box rails while retaining much of the original wooden support structure.
Standing 120 feet tall and reaching 57 mph across 3,560 feet of twisting track, Untamed set the world record for the most inversions on a hybrid roller coaster — five in total — woven between 14 moments of powerful airtime. In its debut year it earned fifth place in Amusement Today’s Golden Ticket Awards for Best New Roller Coaster.

The Ride Experience
Untamed launches riders up a chain-lift hill before pitching them into a 116-foot drop at an 80-degree angle. The layout then delivers a relentless blend of hangtime and ejector airtime, highlighted by a 270-degree Double Inverting Stall — a signature RMC element that rotates trains completely upside down while sweeping through a wide arc. Additional inversions include a Step-Up Under Flip, an Over-Banked Inversion, and a Barrel Roll, giving riders five inversions in all.
With G-forces peaking at 3.75g and 14 distinct airtime moments packed into roughly 1 minute 46 seconds, Untamed rewards riders with an extraordinary variety of sensations. Capacity runs at approximately 900 riders per hour, making it one of Walibi Holland’s flagship attractions.
From Robin Hood to Untamed
The plot of land was previously occupied by Robin Hood, a traditional wooden coaster that ran at Walibi Holland from 2000 until its closure on October 28, 2018. Rather than demolishing the structure outright, RMC retained the existing wooden skeleton and rebuilt the ride from the rails up using their proprietary I-Box steel track technology — a process that defines RMC’s celebrated hybrid coaster conversions.
The transformation gave the site an entirely new layout and identity, turning a dated family wooden coaster into a world-class thrill machine. Its record-breaking five inversions and critically praised ride quality firmly established Untamed as one of the premier coasters in Europe at the time of its 2019 debut.
