Titan is a steel hypercoaster at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Texas. Built by Swiss manufacturer Giovanola and designed by legendary coaster engineer Werner Stengel, it opened on April 27, 2001, as the tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster in the state of Texas.
Standing 245 feet tall with a 255-foot drop and 5,312 feet of track, Titan delivers a top speed of 85 mph across a combination out-and-back and twister layout. Its double helix finale subjects riders to sustained G-forces of up to 4.5 Gs for nearly six seconds, making it one of the most physically intense coasters in the American South.

The Ride Experience
The ride begins with a chain lift to the 245-foot summit before plunging into a 255-foot drop — technically longer than the lift hill itself due to a 120-foot underground tunnel at the base. From there Titan sweeps through wide airtime hills at 85 mph before arriving at its signature double helix, a sustained spiral that pins riders into their seats with up to 4.5 Gs for roughly six seconds.
Three trains — red, orange, and yellow — cycle through the circuit, each carrying 30 riders across five cars. The layout blends classic out-and-back speed with a twister finale, giving the ride both sustained velocity and directional variety that keeps the experience intense from start to finish.
Engineering and Legacy
Titan’s construction required approximately 2.8 million pounds of steel, and at opening it was the longest roller coaster ever built at any Six Flags park. Giovanola, who fabricated the similar Goliath at Six Flags Magic Mountain, handled manufacturing while Stengel’s firm provided the track geometry.
More than two decades after its 2001 debut, Titan remains a flagship attraction at Six Flags Over Texas and a benchmark hypercoaster in North America. Its combination of raw height, speed, and punishing G-forces in the helix has earned it a devoted following among riders who prize sustained intensity over loops or launches.

Titan FAQs
How tall is the Titan roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas?
Titan stands 245 feet (75 m) tall and features a 255-foot drop — the drop is longer than the lift because the track dips into an underground tunnel at the base.
How fast does Titan go?
Titan reaches a top speed of 85 mph (137 km/h), achieved shortly after the main drop.
Does Titan have any inversions?
No. Titan is a hypercoaster with zero inversions. Its intensity comes from high-speed airtime hills and a double helix that generates up to 4.5 Gs sustained for nearly six seconds.
