Ruoff Music Center is an outdoor amphitheater in Noblesville, Indiana, that opened in 1989 as the Deer Creek Music Center. Built by Sunshine Promotions of Indianapolis for about $12 million, it grew into the largest outdoor music venue in the Indianapolis metropolitan area, combining a covered pavilion with a sprawling lawn that together seat roughly 24,000 people.
The venue has carried several corporate names over the decades, including Verizon Wireless Music Center, Klipsch Music Center, and Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center, before being shortened to Ruoff Music Center in 2019. Now operated by Live Nation Entertainment, it hosts a packed summer schedule of touring concerts, festivals, and the occasional graduation or political rally.

A Venue With Many Names
Since opening as Deer Creek Music Center in 1989, the amphitheater has changed its name five times as corporate sponsors came and went, cycling through Verizon Wireless Music Center, Klipsch Music Center, and Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center before settling on the shorter Ruoff Music Center in December 2019. Despite the rebrands, longtime concertgoers in central Indiana still often refer to it by its original name.
The venue’s pavilion-and-lawn layout has remained largely consistent since construction, giving it a reputation among touring acts and fans as one of the more comfortable large-capacity outdoor stops on the Midwest concert circuit.
A Record-Setting Concert Season
The amphitheater’s most notable moment came in 2023, when it drew over 618,000 attendees across its concert season, ranking first in the world on Pollstar’s year-end amphitheater tickets-sold chart, ahead of every other outdoor venue on the planet. It has landed in the top three of that ranking multiple times since 2018.
Earlier in its history, the venue built a loyal following through a long run of Grateful Dead shows in the late 1980s and early 1990s, helping establish it as a premier stop for touring rock and jam acts in the region.
